bird cloud sea is my new coffee table photo book that explores the Sydney coastline and hinterland region. It was inspired by the Zen appreciation of nature and stillness. The book can be sampled and purchased below:
Tis a tad windy here at Signal Hill Studio. The sea is pounding the cliffs and I think the wind must be coming directly from Antarctica because it is absolutely freezing! On the music side, I’ve started work on a new TV series with Matchbox Pictures in Melbourne. A brilliant kids animation that I will be able to discuss later down the track. Looking forward to having lots of fun with that. I’m also chugging along with my new album…drawing inspiration from the Gorillaz, Takemitsu and Messiaen. Yep…a bit of a mixture, but I have something special in mind…so far so good.
Here is a pic of my studio view.
Signal Hill Studio is based in Vaucluse, Sydney and overlooks the Tasman Sea/Pacific Ocean. A storm came through today and I forgot to close the windows…I now have one very wet carpet.
There’s been 3 waterspouts in the past 2 years. This hopefully will make for interesting and inspired music…with just a hint of danger.
Here’s a photo of one of the waterspouts.
I’ll be in London from 8th – 17th May and then in New York from 18th – 27th May. Meet & greet time.
I’m off on a world trip. Why not? Lots of meetings planned for future projects, plus the wrap party for Fireman Sam. I have also been busy building new additions to the studio, testing my DIY skills. So a busy and fun couple of months ahead!
Fireman Sam series 8 is in full swing. Beautiful animation, brilliant writing, great characterisation and very funny. I’m having a ball composing the soundtrack…full orchestra with nods to Holst. The music spans the full range of emotion…from incredibly silly to highly charged drama.
Plus it’s a real privilege to be involved with such a classic series. I have composed all the music for series 6, 7, 8 and the feature film. That’s a lot of music.
